WORDS
FROM AN OTHERWISE MAN.
I’m not looking for a baby,
No matter what the world may say.
If they say that here’s the
Christ - child
I will walk the other way.
I don’t care how many wise men
Bow before one recent-born,
To a God already ancient
I am already sworn.
I ask, “What kind of angel,
And with what purpose fell,
Proclaims a new - born saviour
That I think comes from Hell?”
They say,” It’s for the children
And a smiling, infant child.”
Sometimes, I think this nonsense
Must drive the True God wild.
They’ve all forgotten one thing
That happened long ago;
A Baby died a grown Man,
And this I also know;
He promised He would come back,
Complete with angel train,
Not a smiling, gurgling baby,
But the King - returned to reign.
One Day I’ll see the heavens rent
With light from East to West.
The Son of Man will come as Judge
With saints already blessed.
This is the Lord that I serve,
Who also lived with men.
And I believe, Lord Jesus Christ,
That You will come again.
