If my people, who are called by my Name, humble themselves and pray (Part One)

The text, for those who have trouble with a rather individual cursive, reads as follows: Scandal after Scandal. No institution safe....

Day by Day with  Jesus - a walk through Holy Week.

This is the first of a series of Bible Studies throughout Holy Week. The aim is to look at the scriptures of what Christ did or said on each day of the Week leading up to the Cross and the Resurrection.

It is my prayer that it will be interesting, challenging and revelatory. It is also my prayer that it will eventually reach others and to that end it is pasted below as well as saved on Facebook.

I am looking at ways of getting it posted on other Church Facebook pages in our deanery and of multi-platforming, in particular on YouTube. If I can find a way of making it more interactive I will do that as well.

Hopefully you will find it at the link below until I can get the embed code sorted.

You might also find the pinned post at the top interesting and possibly relevant.

All prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Every Blessing, In Jesus,

Ian.

I've been busy - Mission, Prayer and my apologies for the prolonged absence.

To those who look in regularly, my apologies. I have been busy with many things. Our church is organising a mission and there is much to do  We are staging our outreach to West Bromwich in conjunction with another church from a different denomination.

The mission will take place during Holy Week. You learn more about it here. Not every planned event has been listed, as yet.

One of my tasks is to encourage people to underpin the mission with constant and regular prayer. I would like to ask you to join with us is seeking the Lord's blessing on this outreach.

I'm looking for committed intercessors. If God burdens you for this outreach , please contact me.

Every Blessing in Jesus,

Ian

More on Maundy Thursday.

I had hoped to publish something last night but the Internet was weird. Download speeds were all over the place. Some sites were accessible and others less so, including Blogger. I intend to do a series of posts based on this season of the Church Calendar.

I will be looking at interesting and revealing details and puzzles in the story of Holy Week. For example:

  • Why did Jesus celebrate Passover on the wrong day?
  • How do you get three days and three nights if Jesus was crucified on Friday?
  • What does the goddess Ninue have to with anything?
  • Why does the Risen Jesus have long hair? Oh yes, he does!
  • Why did the Risen Jesus not allow Mary to touch him but invited Thomas to put his hand in the wounds?
  • How many Ascensions into Heaven were there?
  • Why what the festival we shouldn't call Easter is not about new life.

I will also be considering some of the other Passovers that are mentioned in the Bible. They all shed light on what happened at the Cross.
